It began with a broad tipped marker, surfboards, a t-shirt and the last name Stussy. Back in 1980, Surfer Shawn Stussy from Laguna Beach, began scribbling his surname on his surfboards and eventually tried the logo on T-shirts, shorts and caps and sold them out of his car around Laguna Beach, California.
Stussy rapidly grew as a business in the United States and eventually spread their wings overseas to Europe, Australia, Canada and Asia. Stussy collections have been worn by skaters, punks and hipsters and people often referred to it as surfwear, however in an interview Shawn Stussy said 'I don't name it, and I don't name it on purpose'.
To this day, Stussy remains one of the oldest and most respected street wear brands around the globe
