Punk, fashion and orange are words that often come to mind when the name Vivienne Westwood is mentioned. British born and bred, 1941, Miss Westwood has made her mark in the fashion industry, not only in Britain, but across the world.
The fiery red head, previously a primary school teacher, fashion livelihood kicked off with force when she married for the second time to Malcolm McLaren, future Sex Pistols manager. In 1971, Malcolm opened a boutique in London showcasing Westwood’s designs. Dame Vivienne Westwood’s designs are known to have shaped the punk movement and when Malcolm became manager of the Sex Pistols, it was Vivienne who crafted their renowned punk image.
Dame Viv is well known for being unconventional and often outspoken. As the punk movement faded, Westwood continued to dominate the fashion industry, and to this day, A-list celebrities can be spotted proudly wearing her clothing.
